Born in Atlanta, Georgia to parents Mildred and Thomas McIntosh. She had three siblings Betty, Thomas and Linda. She grew up in East Atlanta (Five Points and the Inman Park Community). Attending Bass High School. Her first job was working for the Euclid Theatre in Five Points selling popcorn at the age of 14.
She married the love of her life Charles Lester Sprayberry on February 25, 1955. They relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada after he was enlisted in the United States Air Force. Together they raised their family which included three daughters Debbie, Tonya and Toby in Rex, Georgia.
Gayle had a stellar career with Xerox Corporation for over 36 years. She excelled in all of her endeavors both professionally and personally. After receiving a job promotion within Xerox, they moved to Dallas, Texas and then to Shreveport, Louisiana. After retiring they moved to the family property in Newell, Alabama. Then finally settling in her beloved community of Newnan, Georgia.
Her life was filled with adventure, numerous successes and accomplishments. She dedicated her time supporting the Paralyzed Veterans, Meals on Wheels and St. Jude Hospital. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, following current events and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her three beloved daughters and two sons-in-law, Debbie Millican (Jerry), Tonya Sprayberry and Toby Adams (Greg). Two loving grandchildren, Angela Holcomb (Daniel) and Charles Hanner (Kaylee). Also, three adored great grandchildren, Miah, Liam and Syanna, her sisters in-law, Annette McIntosh, Bobbie Sue Joiner (Thomas), a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, loving family and friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family building traditions that will carry on for generations to come.
To know her was to love her. May her life be a blessing.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation with 10 person intervals on Saturday, January 16, 2021 from 12 noon until 2 p.m. at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home, 376 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, GA 30281, where funeral service will be streamed live and immediately follow at 2 pm in our chapel with limited seating with Rev. Joseph R. Hughes, officiating.
Burial will be in Masters Cemetery, Dekalb County, GA.
