Gary L. Royal

Gary was a 1967 graduate of Roosevelt High School and a 1971 graduate of his beloved Auburn University where he played trumpet in the marching band. During his adult life, Gary worked as a salesman, both regionally and nationally, where he made many friends along the way. He was a 43 year member of Mount Carmel Christian Church where he loyally served as a Deacon, Elder, and Treasurer of the board.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents, J.K. Royal and Nellie Whitaker Royal, and his nephew, William “Billy” K. Royal, Jr. He was the best husband, parent, grandparent, uncle, and friend to many.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Pamela H. Royal,; daughters, Halee R. Royal and Catherine Royal Bishop; son in-law, Justin Bishop; grandchildren Avery, Mackay, and Baby Boy Bishop, who is on the way; brother, William “Bill” Royal, and sister in-law, Vicki Royal, of Conyers; niece, Angela Royal Turner and her husband, Gary Turner of Powder Springs; and a host of cousins, friends, and loved ones.

The Celebration of Gary’s life will be held Sunday, October 14, at Mount Carmel Christian Church, 6015 Old Stone Mountain Road, Stone Mountain, GA 30087. The family will host visitation from 12:30 – 2:00 and the service will begin at 2:00. He will be interred at Fairview Memorial Gardens at 164 Fairview Road, Stockbridge, GA 30281, immediately after the service.
