Eva Lee Wheeler was born in Dothan, Alabama and was the third of six children to Arthur and Maudie Wheeler. Eva was baptized at an early age and was a faithful member of St. Walden Missionary Baptist Church in Dothan, Alabama. Eva graduated from Geneva County Training School in Slocomb, Alabama and shortly after graduation in 1963 she and her entire family relocated to Atlanta, GA. Her family resided with her in a house located on Neil Street in Atlanta. Her first and only job lasted for over 40 years with Clark Laundry located in Atlanta, GA. She soon became a vital part of the everyday operations and was later promoted to Manager.
A few years prior, back in Alabama she met Billy Ray Jones who also relocated from Alabama, joining her in Georgia. Billy Ray Jones and Eva Lee Wheeler Jones wed in the early months of 1966. They welcomed their first born, Michael Jones later in 1966 and their second born, Stedmon Jones in 1968. Eva Lee Jones has been a pillar of the community displaying her giving spirit as well as her desire to help anyone in need. She was also known as the matriarch of the family. Our beloved Eva Lee Jones leaves behind to cherish her loving memories: (2) Siblings, Mary Huiel and Billy Ray Wheeler; (2) Sons, Michael Jones (Angela Jones) and Stedmon Jones; (7) Grandchildren, Jahari Chukwuma (Chidera Chukwuma), Blake Gibson, Brae Jones, Bradley Jones, Brittany West (DeAndre West), Chelsie Jones and Taylor Jones; (10) Great Grandchildren, Avery Rich, Kelechi Chukwuma, Chikamso Chukwuma, Chrystian Stevenson, Avanni Johnson, Hunter Preston, Haven Jones, Aria West, Natalie West and Dylan West; (8) Nieces, Brenda Huiel, Portia Jones, Barbara Harris, Lynn Jones, Leatta Jones, Lydia Jones, Joan Jones and Cyndy Jones; (7) Nephews, Anthony Huiel, Ronald Harris, Tony Harris, Michael Jones, Trevor Jones, Bernard Jones and Terrence Jones; (1)Cousin, Lester Jones.
We have a multitude of blessings to be thankful for in this lifetime. One blessing includes Eva Lee Jones. Favor was shown on us because we had the pleasure of knowing her and having her in our lives in some capacity. We were also able to create precious memories with her while interacting and learning what a caring spirit looks like. Eva Lee Jones will be missed but never forgotten!!!
A visitation of family and friends for Eva will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Horis A. Ward - Fairview Chapel | 376 Fairview Rd, Stockbridge, Georgia 30281, followed by a celebration of life at 1:00 PM.
