Chuck was born on May 30, 1944, to Charles Davis, Sr., and Francis Geneva Davis, née Fields, at Ft. McPherson, Georgia. After graduating from Henry County High School in 1962, Chuck went on to study Business Administration at the University of Georgia. Eventually, though, he graduated from Georgia State University. Before finishing college at Georgia State University, he also served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
In 1963, Chuck met Mary Ann Sutton, and they wed in 1964, going on to have three daughters, Kerri Ann Shope, Kristin Leigh Mullen, and Kimberly Hinton-Bohannon.
During his early years, Chuck was a passionate weightlifter and could often be found working out when he wasn’t at home. He also loved to sing (tenor) and play the piano. During his later years, he loved playing Blues on the piano and was quite good!
Chuck retired from the Georgia State Department of Labor. In addition to being a Veterans Employment Interviewer for the State, he also enjoyed making balloon art for children with his business ChazAirJazz. Chuck was highly intelligent and multi-talented.
Chuck loved his family very much and was extremely proud of all three of his daughters.
Chuck was predeceased by his father and his mother. He is survived by his three daughters; his four grandsons, James Alexander Hinton, Bailey Scott Hinton, Evan Scott Shope, and Reid Sutton Shope; and his three siblings, Roger Allen Davis, Susan Geneva Tewell, and Scott Martin Davis.
There will be a private Celebration of Life ceremony on Saturday, June 26, at 11 a.m. in Covington, Georgia, for the family.
