Betty Marie Knight, born Betty Hitt on December 29, 1932, entered eternal rest on December 16, 2023. A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, December 23, at 10 AM, where she will be laid to rest next to her first husband, Hugh Lee Williams, at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Betty is survived by her only living sibling, her sister Anne. She is preceded in death by her siblings Dorothy (Dott), Jean, Marvin, and Doug. Betty's first husband, Hugh Lee Williams, passed away on December 14, 1985, and she will now join him in everlasting peace.
Betty and Hugh shared a life filled with love and were blessed with three children: Barbara, Phillip, and Scott. Barbara, in turn, brought into the world a daughter, Leslie, who sadly departed in 2018, leaving behind three cherished grandsons: Brandon, Alex, and Kaden. Phillip, Betty's son, had three children of his own: Amanda from his first marriage, and Heather and Cody with his current wife Cathy. Amanda is a mother to two girls with her husband Andrew Scott, Ariella, and Adalee. Heather has two boys with her husband Justin Hagood, Walker and Logan, while Cody is engaged to Allison Baker. Scott, Betty's youngest, has a daughter named Alisha.
Later in life, Betty found love again and married Thomas (Buddy) S. Knight, who passed away in 2016.
Betty was not only a dedicated mother and wife but also a woman of many passions. An avid reader, her favorite book was "Gone with the Wind." She found solace and joy in daily walks, embracing the beauty of nature around her. Betty's Christian faith was a cornerstone of her life, providing strength and comfort in times of joy and sorrow.
During her children's formative years, Betty served as a lunch lady at Fairview Elementary School, endearing herself to generations of young hearts. She also contributed to the community with several years of service at the McCracken Pocket Book Factory.
As we gather to say our final goodbyes, let us remember Betty for the love she shared, the warmth she brought to our lives, and the legacy of kindness and faith she leaves behind. May her soul rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love of those who cherished her.
