Ailene was born Alpha Magdalene White in DeKalb County, Georgia to the late Terresa and Roy "Pete" White of DeKalb County. She was married to Jack L. Stewart for 65 years at the time of her passing. She graduated from SouthWest DeKalb High-school.
Ailene retired from Norfolk-Southern Railway in Atlanta where she worked in customer accounting. She was an avid fan of Darrell Waltrip (NASCAR) and Elvis Presley. Ailene was also known as "AL" to some of her friends and relatives. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is deeply missed by her family and those who knew her.
Ailene was preceded in death by her parents, sister Alice White Selman, and her great grand-daughter Tiffany Elizabeth Smith.
Ailene is survived and missed dearly by her supportive husband Jack L. Stewart. He has never left her side except during the brief time she spent at Westbury Center in Jackson, GA during the COVID outbreak. She is also survived by her children, Kenn Stewart, Angela Smith (Richard), Lee Stewart (Rebecca), and John Stewart (Shelby).
Our beloved "Nana" is also survived by her grand-children: Cara, Anna, Christopher, Terresa, Daniel, Logan, Serena, Kenzie and Ansley. Several great-grandchildren: Canaan, Vivian, Raylan, Meadow, Willow, Connor, Skyler, Harmony, Bryson, Mason and Everly.
Visitation for family and friends will be held for Ailene on Saturday, August 27, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Horis A. Ward Funeral Home - Fairview Chapel | 376 Fairview Road Stockbridge, Georgia 30281. A celebration of life service will start at 11:30 AM. A procession to the graveside service will follow (around Noon) immediately after the funeral at the adjacent Bethel UMC Cemetery.
Flowers are appreciated, but donations to Bethel United Methodist Church (bethel-umc.com)
and Scottish Rite are also appropriate.
