

Wally will be remembered by his children Christopher (Jan) Mueller, Rickie Elledge, Debra Cummings, Eve (Bernie) Ebbing, Betty Ann (Chris) Potter, Tina (Bobby) Cox, Candie (Greg) Stewart, Herman Mueller, Walter Mueller, Michael (Amanda) Mueller, and Brian (Delta) Mueller, his beloved 30 grandchildren, his adoring 30 great-grandchildren, his treasured two great-great-grandchildren, as well as his many nieces and nephews.
Wally is preceded in death by his wife Nina Mueller, and his beloved Elizabeth Mueller. He is also preceded in death by his parents Walter C. and Mary Mueller, his children David Elledge and Denise Degroen, and his siblings Ben Mueller, Char Sugrue, and Mary Mueller.
Wally was a loving, caring, and hard-working man. He would work multiple jobs to make sure his family always had what they needed. He instilled a strong work ethic in his family and taught them to always do their best. Wally would go out of his way to help anyone and put others in a good mood. Those that knew him will remember his many jokes, and offers for candy.
Wally was a man of strong faith and life-long Catholic. He loved singing in church with the choir. He also enjoyed playing bingo, swimming and passing time coloring.
Wally was a proud United States Navy Veteran who served during the Korean War. He was an active member of the American Legion post 654 of Waterman, Illinois. He was also a 4th degree member in the Knights of Columbus St. James of Lee, Illinois. The fourth degree is the highest and most prestigious degree within the Knights of Columbus. Sir Knights are dedicated to serving their Church, Country, and our Order; standing on the shoulders of those before us, Sir Knights stand in the Breach to serve, protect and defend our country.
A visitation for Wally will be held Sunday, January 7, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mount Auburn Funeral Home, 4101 South Oak Park Ave, Stickney, IL 60402. A funeral service will occur Monday, January 8, 2024 at 9:30 AM at St. Odilo Catholic Church, 2244 East Ave, Berwyn, IL 60402. A graveside service will follow at Mount Auburn Cemetery, 4101 South Oak Park Ave, Stickney, IL 60402.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to American Legion post 654 of Waterman, Illinois, or the Knights of Columbus St. James of Lee, Illinois, in Wally's memory.
