Reyna Contreras Flores

It is with great sadness that the Contreras family reports the loss of their amazing mom, Reyna Contreras Flores, of Chicago, Illinois, Epiphany Church, and St. Agnes Church. Reyna passed away suddenly from brain cancer. She died during her sleep, at home, peacefully, surrounded by her family.

Born on March 24, 1939, passed away on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2023, and to be buried on March 24, 2023, on her 84th birthday. Reyna was indeed a saint here on Earth; Heaven will rejoice and celebrate her return.

A devoted parishioner, served on several ministries: Eucharistic Ministry, Renovación Carismática / Círculo de Oración, and the Adoración Nocturna Mexicana Ministry.

Born in Guerrero, Mexico and came to stay and live in Chicago, Illinois in 1976, purchased a home in 1978, where her family still resides in that home. Reyna was very humble, knowledgeable, tailor/seamstress, gardener, chef, crafty with needlepoint, knitting, crocheting, etc.

Reyna was, caring, loving, and a kind soul and who always lent a hand to those in need. Reyna will join her deceased husband, Otilio Contreras Bahena, who passed 30 years ago and will rest next to him.

Reyna is survived by her 5 children, 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

In loving memory of Reyna, a visitation will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mount Auburn Funeral Home, 4101 South Oak Park Ave, Stickney, Illinois 60402. Funeral Mass on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Epiphany Catholic Church, 2524 S. Keeler Avenue, Chicago, IL 60623. Followed by burial at Mount Auburn Memorial Park in Stickney, Illinois.
