Eleanor Koval, aged 98, passed away on November 22nd, 2023. Eleanor left this world peacefully at her home in Lexington Square.
Eleanor was born on January 4, 1925, and grew up in Chicago, IL. She is the epitome of strength and independence—Eleanor's hobbies include gardening, baking, and sewing.
Eleanor enjoyed dancing, and in Richard Sternad, she found her partner. Together, they made memories and lived in Berwyn, IL. Eleanor's grace and elegance were most vividly displayed on the dance floor, with Richard by her side.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her beloved Richard Sternad, her mother Marie Cipov, her aunt Mary Koval, and her brothers Henry, Alex, and Danny Cipov. She is survived by Rosemary Benn (Terry), Deborah Benn, Jon Benn (Carin), Kelli Cermak (John), Emily Cermak, Johnny Cermak, Nathanial Benn, and the many special angels in her life.
Her absence will be profoundly felt by her family, friends, and those fortunate enough to have known her. May she rest in peace, knowing she left the world a better place.
Friends and family will gather for a funeral service for Eleanor that will be held on Tuesday, November 28th, 2023, at 10:00 am at St. Leonard's Catholic Church, 3318 South Clarence Avenue, Berwyn, Illinois 60402. Following the funeral service, will be a graveside service at Mount Auburn Cemetery, 4101 South Oak Park Avenue, Stickney, Illinois 60402.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for a Catholic Mass to be said in her name.
