Chek Faye Woo

Chek Faye Woo, passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at the age of 87. After several months of declining health, Chek Faye died peacefully with his wife of 57 years, Mee King, and their children by his side. He is survived by his loving wife, Mee King, and his children, Edmund Woo (Julie), Elizabeth Woo-Strauss (Daniel), and Albert Woo (Jamie). He was a wonderful grandfather to Alexis and Derrex Woo; Rebecca, Arielle, and Joshua Strauss; and Nicolette, Paul, Allen, and Alex Woo.

Chek Faye was born November 26, 1934 in China, and he came over to the United States when he was 12. He served in the United States Navy, and he later married his wife, Mee King, in Hong Kong. Together, they built a successful restaurant business, Wing Hee, for 37 years in River Grove, Illinois. He took great pride in his children and was very involved with his grandchildren. His biggest accomplishment was how well loved and protected his family felt because of his care and compassion. The grandchildren loved coming home from school to their grandparent’s home because of the wonderful food that Chek Faye cooked for them.

Services will be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Mount Auburn, 4101 S. Oak Park Avenue, Stickney, Illinois 60402.
