Theodora Evalyn Peterson

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Theodora Evalyn Peterson, who died peacefully in her home on January 15, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on December 27, 1944, in Rahway, New Jersey, Terry was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Terry lived a life defined by generosity, care, and love. At her core, she was a nurse—always concerned about the health and well-being of those she cherished. Known for her tenacity, she lived life on her own terms, guided by her nurturing spirit and unwavering devotion to her family. As a mother, Terry laid a foundation of compassion, wisdom, and strength that will remain with her children and grandchildren forever. She unwaveringly supported all of her family members in the pursuit of success and happiness.

Terry is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Arthur T. Peterson, children and grandchildren Scott Peterson (Ashley Peterson), Sherry and Dan Donohue (Catherine Donohue, William Donohue), Jess and Brett Fraley (Keller Fraley, Jasper Fraley). She was predeceased by her parents Mary and Theodore Sheppard, sister Pat Harrigfeld, brother Ted Sheppard, and cousin Stan Johnson.

A celebration of Terry’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude in her memory.

The family would like to thank their neighbors and the staff at the UVA Infusion Center for their dedication and support.

Terry will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, strength, and discipline will continue to inspire all who knew her.
