Born March 27, 1952 in Falls Church, Va, he was the son of the late Truett Lewis and Lillian Alberta (Bolt) Chastain. He was the oldest of four children and spent most of his younger years at his maternal grandmother’s home.
Robert jointed the Marine Corps in 1969 and served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the 1st Marine Brigade and rising to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant before being stationed in California where he met his loving wife. On November 26, 1971 he married Linda Louise Woods. The two shared 50 years of wonderful marriage together. After serving his beloved corps for over 10 years Robert chose to re-enter civilian life. He loved to work on cars, greatly enjoyed trout fishing and hunting. He adored being in the great outdoors with his family and friends. Robert always kept his beloved Corps in his heart, having stayed in contact with some great friends he served alongside and helping with AMVET when he could. He will always be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, and neighbors. Semper Fi Marine and Godspeed.
