Lucille Virginia (Painter) Staton

Lucille P. Staton, 87, of Greenville, passed away on Thursday January 6, 2022 at Royal Care at Birch Ridge.
Mrs. Staton was born on May 15, 1934 in Augusta County and was a daughter of the late Arthur Hampton and AnnaBelle (Doyle) Painter. She was a member of Pines Chapel Presbyterian Church and Second Presbyterian Church in Staunton. Lucille retired from Genesco/Grief after 40 years. She later worked for the Dollar General in Greenville. Mrs. Staton was also very active with the Wilson High School class reunion and served as an election poll worker for many years.
On January 10, 1953, she married Cecil Brown Staton, who preceded her in death on December 4, 1967.
Mrs. Staton is survived by a daughter, A. Renee Staton and husband Steve Grande of Staunton; and her granddaughters, Genevieve S. Grande Staton and Georgia R. Grande Staton.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Staton was preceded in death by her son, Steve Staton and a brother, Carlton Painter.
Lucille loved her family and friends and was much loved in return. A celebration of Lucille’s life will be held on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at 2 PM at Pines Chapel Presbyterian Church with Rev. Malcolm Warford officiating.
Burial will be held privately at Augusta Memorial Park.
