Gaines Thompson "Tom" Spotts

G. Thompson “Tom” Spotts, 79, of Staunton passed away Monday evening, June 27, 2011 at his residence surround by his loving family.
Born December 3, 1931 in Staunton, he was the son of the late Gaines Baylor and Alma (Lickliter) Spotts.
Mr. Spotts was a member of Central United Methodist Church, Staunton. As a U.S. Veteran he served his country honorably with four years in the Air Force where he taught radar school. He was instrumental in building the bridge located in Gypsy Hill Park for the train and as a hobby enjoyed collecting trains. In his spare time, he loved spending time with family, restoring cars and designing and building houses.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Ann (Thomas) Spotts; daughter, Ann (Spotts) Palmer and husband Joel of Staunton; sons, Daniel Gaines Spotts and wife Tanya of Hamilton and John Russell Spotts and wife Suzanne of Verona; grandchildren, Joel Nathaniel Palmer of Georgia, Andrew Thomas Palmer of Richmond, Tatiana Danielle Spotts of Iowa, Nikkea Alexa Spotts of Hamilton, Shae Annaliese Spotts of Hamilton, Baylor Elizabeth Spotts of Verona and Benjamin Connor Spotts of Verona.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, July 1, 2011 at Thornrose Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Stephanie Sault officiating. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 P.M. at Central United Methodist Church, 14 N. Lewis Street.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church.
