Thomas Franklin Dobson Sr.

Born November 30, 1942 in Mocksville, NC, he was the son of the late Hubert Dobson and Hazel Robbins Dobson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Norris.

Mr. Dobson graduated Statesville Senior High School, Class of 1961 and received his Associate’s Degree from Mitchell Community College in 1985.

He retired from the United States Air Force after 23 years of service, having fought in the Vietnam War. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart Award and the Bronze Star.

After his retirement from the military, he was employed with the North Carolina Department of Corrections, having retired after several years of service. He was of the Baptist faith.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Brenda S. Dobson of the home; son, Thomas Dobson, Jr and wife Crystal of Statesville; daughter, Lisa D. Johnson and husband Roger, of Conover; grandchildren, Eryk Dobson, Megan Johnson and Will Johnson; brother, Charles Dobson of Statesville; sister, Brenda G. Dobson of Statesville; brother-in-law Stephen Sloan and wife Anna of Georgia, Wilford Sloan of Statesville and sister-in-law, Kay Sloan and husband Wayne of Statesville.

The family will receive friends Monday, June 27, 2016 from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.

A private graveside service will be held at Iredell Memorial Gardens with full military honors.
