Ruth Wall Harrington

Born April 14, 1924 in Surry County, she was the daughter of the late A.R. Wall and Ella Mae Peale Wall.

Ruth was the last of her siblings, having been preceded in death by her brothers, Warren (Janis) Wall, Clarence (Alisha) Wall, Bill (Rowena & Beulah) Wall, Harold Wall and sister, Frances (Howard) James.

On June 12, 1948, Ruth married Morris G. Harrington. He passed away on November 4, 1978. From her husband’s family, she was preceded by Max (Betty) Harrington, Lynn Harrington, Ken (Francis) Harrington, Norma (Carl) Delamar, Bernice Bost, Ruth (Nick) Nicholaides, and Roy Norton.

Ruth attended Union Grove School and worked for Dillions Manufacturing and Hunter Brother’s Manufacturing as a seamstress.

She loved God and was a member of Christ Boulevard United Methodist Church for 60 years. She enjoyed traveling with her grandson, Donnell and his family as well as her niece, Judy Wall and son, David Kiser. Ruth loved babysitting her great-grandchildren, especially Reese, the 6 year old. She will be greatly missed by her family who loved her but now she is resting from her labors in the presence of her Lord.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Garry Harrington; daughter, Brenda (Paul) Poole; grandchildren, Captain Matthew (Jonette) Poole, Donnell (Natalie) Poole, Christy (Keith) Whitesides, Todd Poole, Bill (Sarah) Harrington and Malia Harrington; nine great-grandchildren with a baby boy due in November; three great-great-grandchildren; her grand-dogs, Yogi and Avalanche; sisters-in-laws, Aileen Harrington and Bonnie Norton and numerous nieces and nephews, who she loved deeply.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM at Christ Boulevard United Methodist Church with the funeral serving beginning at 4:00 PM in the church sanctuary with Rev. Larry Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
