Born in Iredell County, he was the son of the late Franklin D. Shaw and Lena Gay Brown Shaw, who survives.
For twenty years, Richard has worked as a truck driver with L. Gordon Iron and Metal Company.
On October 31, 1980, he married Rosalie Nelson Shaw, and together they have shared over forty years of marriage.
Richard loved riding his motorcycle, tractor and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Lena; wife, Rosalie; son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Shayna Shaw; three grandchildren, MaKenzie, Braydon and Christian; one brother, Mark Shaw and his beloved canine companion, Buddy.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be conducted Thursday, September 2, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Travis Brown officiating. Entombment will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Serving as pallbearers will be John Massey, Tommy Moore, Phillip Carnell, Mike Gandy, Greg Campbell and Dwight Davis.
