Richard "Dick" Easterling Orr

He was born March 14, 1932, in Charlotte and was the son of the late Paul Clydus and Laurie Easterling Orr. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and was very proud of his military service and interested in military history. He worked a few years with his father at Orr Motor Company in Charlotte and later retired after many years of service from Keeter-Dixon-Pearre, Inc. In his retirement, he enjoyed playing golf and wood working.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Helen Bailey; and two brothers, Julian Orr and Paul Orr, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline “Jackie” Putz Orr whom he married on October 25, 1955; three children, Connie O. Stevenson (Daniel) of Chapel Hill, Richard E. Orr, Jr. (Bookie) of Plano, TX, and Linda O. O’Brien (Ed) of Sam Rayburn, TX; two grandchildren, Richard P. O’Brien of College Station, TX, and Charlotte D. O’Brien of Austin, TX; a sister, Margaret Anne Orr Brown of The Villages, FL; and a brother, James LeRoy Orr of Charlotte.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, February 17, 2013, at Oakwood Cemetery with military rites being accorded by the Iredell County Veterans Council Burial Detail.

The family will speak with friends at the cemetery immediately following the service.
