We thanked God that our prayers were answered; she didn't struggle to take her last breath. Her sweet smile and infectious laughter will be remembered as a blessing to her family and everyone that knew her. She leaves behind a devoted husband of 55 years, Bob. He described their love as love at first sight on a blind date that first night in December 1954. She will be terribly missed by her two daughters, Deborah Johnson (Woody) and Carole Elizabeth Medlin (Jeff). Her grandchildren, Robbie Johnson (Traci) and Dede Sands (Matt) will cherish her many hours of reading and trips to the store when they were young and miss her Christmas candies among many memories. Her younger grandchildren, Cas and Jacob Medlin, know their prayers are finally answered and she is walking in Heaven! Her great grandchildren, Matthew and Maekenzie Sands, will miss bringing her pictures of their latest sporting adventures and playing dress-up to make her smile. Her youngest great grandchildren, Madeleine and Jacqueline Johnson, are missing her gentle head bumps of love already. To her great joy, she was reunited with her mother, Bertha Mae Jones, who left her 14 years early on August 11th, and with her daughter, Beverly Anne with all the answers she so patiently longed and prayed for since her young passing in 1994.
Peggy was tenacious in the care and safety of her family and always willing to help anyone in need. With this in mind, we ask if you want to make a donation in her name please do so to her church family at heart, Front Street Baptist Church, 1403 W. Front Street, Statesville, NC 28677; or Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625, both of which she believed cared for others immensely.
Come celebrate her wonderful life with us on Saturday, August 17, 2013, at Front Street Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 with celebration service to follow at 2:00 PM.
The family wishes to thank Chantel and Tricia of Iredell Home Health and Dr. Hatharasinghe, Dr Elnaggar, Melody and staff of Piedmont Health Care for keeping her with us. They would also like to thank Bill Brater and Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home for being a blessing to the family. God Bless each one of you!
Online condolences can be made at www.bunchjohnsonfuneralhome.
Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
When I Am Gone
We are...willing rather to be absent from the body, and be present with the Lord.~ 2 Corinthians 5:8
When I am gone, remember I'm with Jesus; then do not mourn because I've passed away. Life holds so many griefs and disappointments, and will you cry because I did not stay? 'Tis only for a spell we must be parted; not many years on earth
to us are given. And when my Savior tells me you are coming, I'll go with Him and welcome you to Heaven. Grieve not
because the eyes that look upon you shall never see your face on earth again; rejoice, because they look upon the Savior
who gave His life to ransom sinful men. Weep not because I walk no longer with you; remember, I am walking streets of
gold. Weep for yourselves that you awhile must tarry, before the blessed Lord you may behold.
