Paul Leonard Sipes

He was born May 10, 1926, in Iredell County and was the son of the late Roy and Minnie Sells Sipes. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, of the Baptist faith, and worked as a salesman for Bell & Howard Chevrolet for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Sharpe.

Paul is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Duncan Sipes, whom he married on June 11, 1950; three sons, Ronnie Sipes (Terri), Rick Sipes, and Jerry Sipes; a daughter, Janice Sharpe (Kelly), all of Statesville; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Mason officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the Iredell County Veterans Council Burial Detail.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home and at other times will assemble at the residence.
