Milton Darnell Mayfield, 62, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2024, in Thomasville, North Carolina. He was born on February 16,1962, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late Milton Lee Mayfield and Shirley Mae Mayfield.
Milton attended West Iredell High School where he was an outstanding athlete in football, basketball, and track. After graduating with honors in 1981, he then went into the US Air Force. After returning home he worked several jobs.
He attended Holsey Memorial CME Church and also a member of Exodus Missionary Outreach Church in Hickory, N.C.
He was a songwriter and singer. He had several gifts from God. He was a comedian who always had a joke.
One of his last jobs before he got sick was at Frye Memorial Hospital where he was an excellent cook. His last residence was at Magnolia Gardens in Thomasville, N.C.
Milton was survived by daughter, Asia Dalton; sister, Rev. Sheila M. Williams; brother, Jermaine Mayfield; half-sister, Yashika Daniels Bell (Toby), all of Statesville, N.C. He is also survived by nephews, Oreon Mayfield, and Akeem Robertson (Karen Rabess); niece, Shimah Daniels; and a host of other nieces and nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, March 29, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Holsey Memorial CME Church.
