Mildred Stroud Severt 89, of Statesville, passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Gordon Hospice House. Born on November 15, 1929, A native of Guilford County, she was the daughter of the late Mattie Mason. She was a founding member of Fallstown Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Branson Dean Severt; a brother; Otho Lee Stroud, a son; William Dean “Billy” Severt, a daughter; Patti Lynn Severt Mounts and by a great-grandson; Carter Hicks.
Surviving Mrs.Severt are her grandchildren, Kelly Hicks and her husband Jeff of Statesville, Ashley McNiel and husband Chuck of Statesville, Jessica Hastings and husband Ben of Woodleaf and Branson Severt of Statesville. Two sisters, Naomi Stroud Sloan and husband Don of Winston-Salem and Elizabeth “Libby” Stroud Johnson of Statesville; as well as 4 great-grandchildren, Allie Hicks of Statesville and Liam, Wyatt and Conner McNiel of Statesville.
Mrs. Severt was a Godly women who enjoyed reading her bible and in being a founding member took pride in being at the church anytime the doors were open which included being a member of the church beautification committee as well as being a former GA leader for many years. She was a wonderful cook and often delivered Meals on Wheels for people in need.
A Funeral service for Mrs. Severt will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at Fallstown Baptist Church at 11:00AM with Pastor David Troutman officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Burial is to follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fallstown Baptist Church or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County.
