She was born April 7, 1922, in Waxhaw, NC, and was the daughter of the late David Ward and Ardelle Sims Dunlap.
On April 4, 1942, she married John Roland Mobley of Gastonia, who preceded her in death in April 1988. She was also preceded in death by a son, Rickey Ward Mobley; a daughter, Hilda Jane Mobley; two brothers, Whitney Dunlap and David Dunlap; and two sisters, Janie Baldwin and Isabel McMahon.
Left to cherish her memory are children, Keith (Jan) Mobley of Knoxville, TN, Carmen M. (Danny) Jackins of Statesville and Patti M. (John) Loner of Mooresville. She was a loving grandmother to Heather M. (Rick) Gray, Kristen M. (Tim) McKellips, Andy Jackins, Amy J. (Stephen) Estes, Ted Jackins, John Fraley, Matthew Fraley, Rusty (Chrislin) Mobley, Ryan (Kristin) Mobley, Reid Mobley, Reagan M. (David) McCracken, David Loner, and Katybeth L. (Isaac) Mailleue and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters, Ethelene Price, Daviese (Gerald) Hill, Kathryn (Walt) Darnell and Ellen McGinnis.
A memorial service celebrating Mildred’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 4, 2015, in the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Tankersley officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
A private burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery.
