Mary Brady Mixson, 82 of Statesville, NC formerly of Georgetown, SC passed away peacefully on Thursday April 6, 2017. Mary was born on August 20, 1934 in Calhoun County SC to the late Ned Phelex Brady and Lillie Ottice (Smith) Brady. Mary was a teacher throughout her working career and was the director of Fairview Baptist Church Daycare. She was a member of Western Avenue Baptist Church, Statesville, NC.
She was predeceased in 2009 by her beloved husband of 49 years, James “Jimmy” Mixson, Jr. and is survived by her son, James “Jim” Mixson, III and his wife Kristi of Statesville, NC; her daughters, Wrenn Lingerfelt and her husband Dallas of Knoxville, TN and Pam York and her husband Jason of Statesville, NC; her brother, Ned Brady, Jr. of Swansee, SC; her sisters, Ruth Way of Orangeburg, SC, Reatha Dukes of Orangeburg, SC, Lillie Ann Pritcher of Holly Hill, SC and Louise “Honey” Rucker, of St. Matthews, SC; her grandchildren, James “Jay” Mixson, IV, Nate, Matthew and Tyler Lingerfelt, Addison Taylor Mixson, Kayla Wright and Lawton York; her great grandson, Eli Durden and her sister-in-law, Kay Short of Memphis, TN.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2-4pm at the Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home, 705 Davie Ave., Statesville, NC. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Monday at 3pm at Western Avenue Baptist Church, Statesville, NC with the burial to follow in Iredell Memorial Gardens, Statesville, NC.
The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff of The Gardens for all their love and care they provided throughout Mary’s stay there.
