Martha Nell Morrison Leonard

She was born September 20, 1929, in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Hoyt McFarland and Mattie Gilbert Morrison. She was a homemaker, attended Mitchell Community College and was a member of Shiloh Presbyterian Church. She was formerly a member of the Statesville Garden Club, Bridge Club, Dance Club and Statesville Junior League.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Turner Leonard; two sisters, Mabel Kathryn Morrison and Lucille Morrison Settlemyre; and a brother, Robert McFarland Morrison.

She is survived by her daughter, Paula L. Huffman and her husband, Donald Edward “Ed” Huffman, of Statesville; a grandson, William Paul Huffman of Statesville; and a sister, Frances “Fran” Allison of Williamsburg, VA.

Memorial service celebrating Martha’s life will be held at 6:00 PM Thursday, July 18, 2013, at Shiloh Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Harold King officiating.

The family will speak with friends at the church and at the daughter’s home following the service on Thursday and at other times will receive friends at the daughter’s home.
