She was born February 17, 1958, in Joplin, Missouri. She was a graduate of Escambia High School and prior to her disability retirement, she worked as a case fitter with Hickory Chair.
She was preceded in death by her father, Lee Daniel Stroud; her mother and step-father, Gloria and Tomas Hernandez; sister, Janet Poore; and brothers, Jerry Stroud and Tomas Hernandez, Jr.
She is survived by daughter, Angela (Jason) Brady; son, Justin Coffey, "adopted daughter," Melissa Ball; sisters, Tracie (Scott) Pennington and Ruth (Robert) Williams; and brothers, Charlie Stroud, Eddie (Charlotte) Hernandez and Vincent Hernandez; and 31 nieces and nephews (great).
Memorial service celebrating Maria’s life will be held 3:00 PM today (Sunday, May 26) in the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. J.B. Parker, Jr. officiating.
The family will speak with friends at the funeral home immediately following the service.
