Born in Iredell County on May 24, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Roby C. Martin and Emma J. Freeland Martin.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her earthly soulmate and husband of 48 years, Marvin Beam.
Lorene was a devoted wife, loving mother of four children; grandmother of four; great-grandmother of six and friend. She was a prayer warrior, a woman of great faith and counsel. Lorene cherished the Bible, reading it daily along with the local newspaper. She was an avid cross-word puzzle worker. Although Lorene will be greatly missed, her life and home-going to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and the loved ones that preceded her, that are in Heaven, is well celebrated. Lorene was a supervisor in housekeeping at Iredell Memorial Hospital for many years, and a member of Northmont Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Mark S. Beam (Martha) of Statesville, Sherry L. Duke of Statesville, Paul D. Beam (Michelle) of Statesville and Kathryn Rader (John) of Knoxville, TN.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a nephew that was like a son , Jesse Ireland and her sister, Betty White of Hiddenite.
The family will receive friends Friday, August 27, 2021 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at Northmont Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Boger and Rev. Dr. Bob Dennis officiating Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
