Lillie Mae Mason

On September 25, 2015, Lillie Mae Mason, 87, ended a long and brave battle to go into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a member of Landmark Church of God. Born on June 10, 1928, Lillie Mae was the daughter of the late TP and Blanche Darr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Rev. Paul Darr and Frances Ollis, and her grandson, Byron Mason.

On June 28, 1947, Lillie Mae married the love of her life, JD Mason, who survives. For 68 years, JD and Lillie Mae exemplified a Godly marriage. Throughout her illness, JD never left her side.

In addition to her husband, Lillie Mae is survived by three sons: Michael Mason and wife Sandy, Randy Mason and wife Sandy, and Brent Mason and wife Sheila. She has a granddaughter, Tonya Houpe and husband Gene; and six great-grandchildren, Ethan, Hanna, Maddy, Paxton, Peyton; and Madison. She also has two step grandsons and two step granddaughters. Lillie Mae is also survived by a sister, Kathleen White and husband Jack, a niece Diane Staples and husband Steve, and a nephew Keith White and wife Kim.

The family will receive friends at Landmark Church of God from 2:00 until 3:30 on Sunday, September 27th, with a Celebration of Life service immediately following at the church. Graveside services for Mrs. Mason will be conducted at Iredell Memorial Gardens on Monday, September 28th at 11am. The family is requesting that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Gordon Hospice House at 2431 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
