Mr. Kenneth Onell Malcolm, 86, of Mt. Ulla, entered into rest on May 15, 2018 at the Gordon Hospice House. A native of Rowan County, he was the son of the late Adam Washington Malcolm and Willie Lee Hoover Malcolm. He was a member of Fern Hill Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a tremendous family man and was loved and adored by those who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, A.W. Malcolm, Jr. and by a sister, Janie Malcolm Ervin.
Mr. Malcolm is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Shelby Malcolm; by a son, Rodney Lynn Malcolm of Holden Beach; four daughters, Brenda Yvonne Dyson Deal (Ricky) of Taylorsville, Glenda Darlene Dyson Rogers (Wesley) of Tampa, Florida; Constance Jeanette Dyson Howell of Vashti and Donna Stallings of Mooresville. Also surviving are his brothers, Paul Dean Malcolm (Ruby) of Troutman and Fred Willard Malcolm of Statesville; his sisters, Nathalie Malcolm Cook of Stony Point, Annie Sue Malcolm Luffman of Troutman, Betty Jean Malcolm Bass of Statesville, and Brenda Kay Malcolm Murdock (Charles) of Statesville. He is survived by 13 Grandchildren, 9 Great-Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great grandchild; special great-grandchildren, Blake and Blair Greenwald of Troutman and a number of nieces and nephews.
A service celebrating the life of Mr. Malcolm will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Fern Hill Baptist Church at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Jesse Stroud and Conley Matlock officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 until the service begins. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors.
