He was born June 28, 1934, in Bellsville, Ohio, and was the son of the late Lawrence Nicholas Kanzigg and Alma Oneacre Polivka. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired nuclear boiler maker from the Babcock & Wilcox and worked for several years as a grounds keeper at the KOA Campground in Statesville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Kanzigg.
He is survived by his wife, Loralee Hawkinson Kanzigg, whom he married on October 10, 1991; three sons, Terry (Pam) Kanzigg of Holly Springs, Brian (Cassie) Kanzigg of Troutman and Mark (Donna) Kanzigg of Seymour, Tennessee; three step-children, Arlen (Kathy) Busser of Lena, IL, Linda (Mike) King of Freeport, IL, and Darryl (Jaime) Busser of Pearl City, IL; two sisters, Marie McDougal of Copley, Ohio and Nada Williams of Wooster, Ohio; ten grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Salisbury National Cemetery with full military honors being accorded by the Rowan County Veterans Council Burial Detail.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home which is entrusted with the arrangements.
