Born June 27, 1937 in Iredell County, he was the son to the late Troy and Lillian Redmond Elliott. Joe was known for his outgoing personality and his great sense of humor. He never met a stranger. Joe was a Scout Master for Troop 668. He was a choir director and Sunday school teacher at Hams Grove Baptist Church. He worked for many years at Southern Screw Factory and later had a small appliance repair business. He loved camping and working in the garden.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by son, Keith Elliott and wife, Irene Shumaker Elliott.
Left to cherish his loving memory are his children, Penny (Dean) Goodin, Scotty Elliott and Wendy (Kelvin) Wooten; granddaughters, Kirby Goodin and Paige Wooten; sister, Oleatha Goodin; brother, Jerry (Lorena) Elliott; Irene's family and a host of nieces, nephews and the staff and residents of Olin Village.
A celebration of Joe's life will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 10:30 am at Rocky Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Henry Cook officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church sanctuary prior to the service from 10-10:30am.
In lieu of flowers the family ask memorials be made to the Mission Fund at Rocky Hill Baptist Church.
