He was born March 8, 1944, in Iredell County and was the son of the late Jurney Clay and Annie Belle Hutchens Campbell. He was a graduate of Scotts High School and worked in the forklift business for many years until his retirement in 1997.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Donna Wilson Campbell, whom he married on September 17, 1966; a daughter, Dana Campbell Bell (Kevin) of Statesville; two sons, Darren E. Campbell (Stacy) of Statesville and Dane M. Campbell (Tamalita) of Stony Point; six grandchildren, Dylan Campbell, Addison Campbell, Graham Campbell, Lawson Campbell, Holden Bell and Summer Bell; a sister, Jean Isenhour (Johnny) of Statesville; two brothers, Tommy Campbell (Alice) and Mark Campbell (Cheryl), both of Statesville; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins of Statesville.
Funeral services celebrating Jerry’s life will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at Bethel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Matt Emory officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, May 14, at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
