Helen Marie Edwards

She was born on December 22, 1958 in Statesville to the late Oscar and Helen Harris Perry. She attended North Iredell High School and received her GED from Wayne Community College in Goldsboro, North Carolina where she had resided with her first husband, Sonny Potts and their daughter, Tracy. They divorced and she later married Zeb Edwards in Statesville, North Carolina. Together they had four children, Chester, Maggie, Rose and Daisy. Then Marie suffered through the devastating loss of her two youngest daughters, Rose and Daisy in January 2012; and now she is reunited with them. She was employed as a Floor Sales Associate at the Lowes Garden Center and Target in Billings, MT where she resided for 19 years. In October of 2016 she transferred to Target in Mooresville, North Carolina.

Marie loved the Lord and was still a member of Gospel Baptist Church in Billings, MT. She loved her family deeply, her children, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews. Some of her hobbies were flowers, plants, bird watching, jigsaw puzzles and shell seeking on the beach. She also enjoyed long road trips with coffee and cigarette breaks. She loved keeping in touch with her friends, playing Candy Crush and Farmville.

Her mantra was “ALL I NEED TODAY IS A LITTLE BIT OF COFFEE AND A WHOLE LOT OF JESUS!”

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her sister, Pasty Perry Harris and her husband, Larry.

She is survived by her son, Chester Edwards; two daughters, Tracy Potts (Eric) Owens and Maggie Edwards; three grandchildren, Wesley, Reagan and Colton Owens; sister, Carolyn (Ed) Ramirez; three brothers, David (Sarah), Danny (Peggy) and Johnny Perry and many other loving family members.

Family and friends are invited to Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home in Statesville, North Carolina on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 2pm to celebrate and remember the life of Marie.

The last movie we watched together recently with Marie was “I Can Only Imagine”. Yes, we can only imagine the wonderful glory she is now experiencing.
