Born on November 11, 1929 he was the son of the late Thomas Eugene Frye and Mary Blackwelder Frye. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Frye.
On January 22, 1955, he married the love of his life, Charlotte Gentle Frye. After 63 years of loving marriage, she passed away on November 5, 2018.
Harry was a dignified man whose life was devoted to service. He was not a man of many words, but his care was demonstrated through action. He was a United States Army Veteran who honorably served his country in the Korean Conflict. He retired from Bellsouth as an installer after 32 years and went on to operate a private landscaping business for 10 years. He was heavily active in the founding of Ebenezer Fire Department, where he served as a charter member of the board and volunteered 43 years of service to the community. He was a long-time member of Broad Street Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon and was a coordinator of worship service assignments. He also loved the outdoors, enjoyed fishing, and was an avid gardener. He was a genuine, upstanding man and a true provider for his family.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Janeal (Jerry) Gross, Keith (Kathy) Frye, and Tracy (Mike) Strickland; grandchildren, Emily Frye, Kelly and Kasie Strickland; brother, Paul Frye; sister, Carolyn Teague; sister-in-law, Denie Gentle; nephews, Tommy Frye and Alan Teague; nieces, Vickie Degges and Diana Dagenhart, and other loving family members.
The family will receive friends at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Broad Street Church of Christ with Dave Wood and Steve Short officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Iredell Memorial Gardens with full military honors presented by the Iredell County Veteran Burial Honors Detail.
