He retired from Southern States and was a member of Oakdale Baptist Church. Music meant a lot to Alan, he especially loved bluegrass.In addition to being an avid chess player, he loved to tackle any type of brain-challenging puzzle. He also spent many enjoyable hours playing online golf with his golf buddies.
Alan is survived by his wife of 48 years, Robin Stikeleather Harpe, of Statesville; son, Nicholas “Adam” Harpe, of Statesville; granddaughter, Ava Harpe; sister, Linda Harpe Purbaugh (Michael) of Maryland; nephew, Josh Joyner (Melissa) of Harrisburg; great niece, Grace Joyner; and great nephew, Liam Joyner.
Family will receive friends on Friday, December 27, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Pastor Darren Johnson officiating, Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Park.
