He was born October 14, 1939, in Iredell County and was the son of the late Hoyle and Mary M. Massey. He was a retired self-employed carpenter. He was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed following the Washington Redskins, Carolina Panthers, Carolina Tarheels, and Atlanta Braves. He also enjoyed fishing and gardening, both vegetables and flowers. He dearly loved his family, and his greatest joy was being a father and grandfather.
Bill is survived by his wife, Mary S. Massey whom he married on March 21, 1984; a daughter, Lisa N. McGee (Mike) of Mooresville; five sons, Mike Neaves and Rick Neaves, both of Statesville, Tim Neaves of Stony Point, Keith Neaves of Harmony, and Randy Neaves (Pam) of Troutman; three brothers, Allen Massey (Nancy) of Mooresville, Jack Massey (Lauriann) of Stony Point, and Bobby Massey (Becky) of Gibsonville; twelve grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday in the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Tony Fox and the Rev. Don Horton officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Monday at the funeral home prior to the service.
