Mrs. Doretha Summers Wilson, 73, of 349 Talley St. Troutman, died Saturday March 16, 2013 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. Born in Iredell County on March 21, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Ernest Summers and Alvina Saddler Summers. She worked for Troutman Shirt Company until they closed and then she went to Beauty Maid Mills uintil her health failed. She was raised at Zion Wesley AME Zion Church in Troutman, then joined Refuge Church Of Christ in Troutman and finally joining the Kingdom Of Life Ministries in Mooresville. She loved music, loved teaching Sunday school and ministering as a missionary, she was a choir director and worked tirelessly at the local, district and state level in her church. She genuinely loved young people and offering them encouragement.
On December 30, 1956, she married Mr. Andrew Wilson who survives. Also surviving are a son, Steve Wilson (Sandra) of Charlotte, daughters: Lori Wilson of Troutman, Lydia Lowe of Troutman and Lane Young and her fiance Carl Wade of Winston-Salem.
She is also survived by grandchildren: Gary Lowe, Jr., Steven K. Wilson and Candice Wilson and great grandchildren: Saquarius Wilson, Caleb Wilson and Serenity Wilson. Also surviving is a former daughter-in-law, Carolyn Wilson.
She was preceded in death by brothers: John and Frank Summers, a son-in-law, Gary D. Lowe, Sr. and former daughter-in-law, Bonita Wilson.
Services celebrating Mrs. Wilson's life will be conducted on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 1:00 at New Life Missionary Baptist Church in Troutman.
with District Elder Lewis Taylor and Dr. Ronnie Parson officiating. She will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service while the family greets friends and burial will follow in Iredell Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be: Otis Westmoreland, Kenneth Mills, Carlos Westmoreland, Gary Lowe, Jr. and, Carlos Westmoreland, Jr.
