He was born in Spartanburg, SC on July 20, 1924, son of the late Frank and Jennie Harvey Taylor. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Welcome Sunday School Class. He was owner and operator of Taylor Distributors. He enjoyed his work selling and repairing golf carts and vacuum cleaners. His hobby was playing golf. He was married on December 12, 1952 to Louise Mills, who survives him. Dewey and Louise had a loving marriage for 63 years.
Survivors include daughter, Laura Louise Taylor den Boer, and son-in-law, David H. den Boer of Cypress, Texas, and his granddaughter, Dr. Emily Louise den Boer Mackie of Norfolk, Virginia. He is also survived by his sister, Christine Koon, of Jacksonville, Florida. Uncle Dewey is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Dewey W. Taylor, Jr., his daughter-in-law Dena Taylor and his brother Horace Earl Taylor.
Funeral services will be at the Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home in the Westmoreland Chapel on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 2pm. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
