Mr. Clarence Lavette Stroud, 75, of 254 Cartner Rd. Statesville, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, July 24th at the Gordon Hospice House. Born in Iredell County on May 16, 1934 and was a son of the late Howad Stroud and Mary Tempie Boger Stroud. Lavette was a deacon at Pleasant View Baptist Church for over 50 years and retired from Bruning & Federle Manufacturing Company after 35 years. He proudly served on the Iredell County Cattleman's Board, the membership committee of the North Carolina Cattlemen's Association, the Angus Board and the Board of Directors for the V-Point Community Center and was a delegate of Genex GRI for seven years..
On November 27, 1954, he married his wife of 55 years, Elizabeth Cartner Stroud who survives. Also surviving are a son, David Stroud, two grandsons, Stan and Jacob (Kristen) Stroud and two great grand daughters, MaKayla and Andi. He is also survived by brothers Clay Stroud (Doris) of Salisbury, Howard Stroud (Lavonne) of Statesville and James Stroud (Margie) of Winston-Salem and a sister, Elizabeth Moore (William) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services celebrating Lavette's life will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Tuesday at Pleasant View Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Whitley, Rev. Jesse Stroud, and Rev. Brandon Gwaltney officiating. He will lie in state at the church for thirty minutes prior to the service and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will assemble at the residence of the deceased and will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 P.M. this evening (Monday) at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
