Mr. Brice Campbell, 80, of the Monticello Community of Statesville, died Thursday evening at his home. Born in Iredell County on August 21, 1929, he was a son of the late Isom Campbell and Maude Myers Campbell. He was a farmer, retired heavy equipment operator and a member of Monticello Baptist Church. Brice enjoyed going to the Elder Center, loved the outdoors, good bluegrass music and was very involved in his grandchildren's lives. He was an avid guitar, banjo and fiddle player and always enjoyed helping his neighbors. He was preceded in death by brothers, Wheeler, Oliver, Coyne and John Pierce Campbell. On May 21, 1953, he married the former Rachel Coleman who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Dewayne Campbell and his wife Sue, of Union Grove, three daughters, Loretta Stone and her husband Bobby, Winna Parks and her husband Sam, both of Statesville, and Shawn Reece and her husband Joe of Olin, along with a "daughter of the heart", Brenda Bradshaw. Also surviving is a brother, Milas Campbell of Fayetteville and grandchildren: Reagan Stone, Jared Stone, Emily Ann Reece, Carissa Carol Campbell, Sara Beth Reece and Rachel Claire Reece.
Services celebrating Mr. Campbell's life will be conducted at 11:00 Monday at Monticello Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Henderson and Rev. Mike Pharr officiating. He will lie in state at the church for thirty minutes prior to the service and burial will follow in the Shady Grove Baptist Church in North Wilkesboro with full military rites presented by members of the Iredell County Veterans Council. The family will assemble at the residence of the deceased and will receive friends Sunday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 P.M. at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home.
