Born in Rowan County on January 4, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Dwight Nathaniel Young and Grace Naomi Sturgill Young.
Audrey, better known as Pinky to her classmates, was in the first graduating class after the opening of the new South Iredell High School in 1966.
She had worked at Burlington Mills, attended Cascade Baptist Church and had been disabled for the last 15 years.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one sister, Ginger Sue Young.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Elmer Wayne McClain; son, Dennis Wayne McClain; brothers, Henry Allen Young (Mary), Charles Edward Young and Gary Wayne Young (Debbie); sisters, Geneva Young Peeler, Carolyn Jean Young Gantt (Joe), Nancy Marie Young Ballard, and Wanda Lee Young Shaver (Donnie); numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, December 20, 2015 at 3:00 PM in the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Small officiating. The family will speak to friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Cancer Society.
