Born on November 12, 1929, he was the son of the late Durand Forsyth Campbell and Lotus Mae Cornelius. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Brent Lee Campbell and by a sister, Miriam Dellinger.
Allen grew up in the Cool Spring community. He honorably served his country in the United States Navy. He worked as a farmer and an electrical contractor. In his spare time he enjoyed going square-dancing with his beloved wife, Libby, gardening and reading. He was a long-time member of Fifth Creek Presbyterian Church.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 42 years, Elizabeth “Libby” Steele Campbell; sons, Mack (Pam) Campbell and James (Leslie) Campbell; daughter, Janet Powell; brother, Rex (Mary) Campbell; sisters, Frances Rasmusson, Betty Neal Niblock, and Gayle West; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at Fifth Creek Presbyterian Church on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Steve Hannah officiating. He will lie in state a half-hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:30. Interment will immediately follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.
