Mr. William Neal “Bill” Lee, age 88, died Saturday morning at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility after short illness. He was a native of Rockingham, N.C. but had lived most of his life in Bulloch County and retired after 41 years of service with the Savannah River Site. He was a member of the Statesboro First Baptist Church, the Harmony Fellowship Bowen Sunday School Class, American Legion Post 90, Ogeechee Lodge 214 F&AM, The Alee Temple Shriners and a Veteran of the US Navy having served in WWII. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and loved spending time watching the Georgia Southern Eagles play football. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Neal and Nellie Belcher Lee and a sister, Mildred Lee Newton.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Williams McCown Lee of Statesboro; two sons and daughters-in-law, Laymon (Joy)McCown, and Neal (Lynn) Lee all of Statesboro; grandchildren, Matt (Lindsey) McCown, Erika Lee and Brooke Lee; two step grandchildren, Thomas Masopust and Sarah Reed; one great grandson, Parker McCown; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 8 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Rev. Ricky Allen officiating.
Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Active Pallbearers will be Steve Hinley, Julian Deal, Jared Humphries, Dylan Humphries, Carson Cannady and Garrett Williams.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Harmony Sunday School Class.
