Mr. Wayne Kennedy, age 67, died early Wednesday at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. He was a native of Statesboro and lived many years in Savannah before moving back to Statesboro in 1978. Mr. Kennedy was the owner of Wayne Kennedy Welding & Fabrication for many years. He loved spending time outdoors and feeding the fish in his pond. Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by his parents, Elton and Erma Kennedy, and his son, Stephan A. Kennedy.
Survivors include his wife, Susie Martin Kennedy of Statesboro; his daughter, Malynda Anne (Bill) Kennedy of Savannah; his step-children, Paulette Thompson of Savannah, Darlene Miller of Statesboro, Wayne Shuman of Darien, Kimberley (Gerry) Newsome of Statesboro, and Monaleigh Shuman of Springfield; his sister, Jean (Henry) Iler of Statesboro; five grandchildren, Matthew, Lindsay, Cale, Layne, and Danielle; four great grandchildren; and two nieces.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Friday at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Rev. Olin Strickland officiating.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Shuman, Matthew Thompson, Wesley Martin, Adam Martin, Gerry Newsome, and Roger Barlow.
Burial will be in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, Ga. 30459.
