Mrs. Virginia Smallwood, age 98, passed away early Saturday morning, June 28, at Eagle Health and Rehabilitation in Statesboro. She was born in South Carolina to the late Robert and Ida Bland. She lived in Jacksonville, Florida for most of her life and moved to Statesboro in 1994 with her husband Jack. She was an avid ballroom dancer, and taught line dancing classes for many years. She was of the Presbyterian faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Smallwood.
Surviving is her son, Robert (Bonnie) of Jacksonville, FL and her step-children Barbara (Lonnie) Stock of Smyrna, Hoyt Smallwood (Sylvia) of Jacksonville, Joe Smallwood (Natalie) of Statesboro, Patsy (Larry) Hauser of Pensacola, Bill (Cheryl) Smallwood of Statesboro, Debra Malone of McDonough and numerous grandchildren.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Bulloch Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dan Lewis officiating.
