Mrs. Sybil Irene Chester Hagan, age 78, entered into her Heavenly Home on Monday, July 22 2016 surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. Mrs. Hagan was a 1954 graduate of Marvin Pittman Laboratory School. She worked at the local Five and Dime Shop, Bryant’s Kitchen, and did the bookkeeping for many years, until her retirement, for her husband’s business, John Hagan Plumbing and Electrical, Inc. Mrs. Hagan loved reading, dancing, music and was a member of the Goloid Baptist Church in Screven County. She is preceded in death by her parents, Walter Herschel and Madge Harrelson Chester.
Mrs. Hagan is survived by her husband, of 63 years, Mr. John Raburn Hagan, Statesboro; son, Wayne Hagan (Teresa), Statesboro; daughter, Larraine Rushing (Jerry), Statesboro; grandchildren, Alison McCormick (Jason), Athens, Brad Hagan (Vania), Springfield, Colt Rushing (Lacey), Statesboro, Cory Rushing (Faren), Statesboro, Cade Rushing (Marley), Statesboro, Cassidi Rushing, Statesboro; 7 great- grandchildren; brothers, Tony Chester, Brunswick, and Joe Chester (Kathy), Statesboro; sister-in-law, Alma Rita Hagan, Rocky Ford , sister -in-law, Helen Stephens (Billy), Register , brother-in law, Wendell Hagan(Rachel), Sylvania, and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mrs. Hagan will begin at 12p.m., in the chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Chester officiating. Burial will follow in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pall bearers will be grandsons, Colt Rushing, Cory Rushing, Cade Rushing, Brad Hagan and Jason McCormick.
