Steve L. Logan, age 68, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2016 in his residence, from complications due to Pulmonary Fibrosis, under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice surrounded by his loving family.
Steve was born in Winston-Salem, NC and was in the first graduating class at Parkland High School, where he lettered in football, wrestling and track and made several All-State teams. He graduated from Forsyth Technical College receiving his Associate’s degree in Drafting. From 1968 to 1970, Steve served in the United States Army in the First Air Calvary during Vietnam obtaining the rank of Sergeant. Steve was a rural mail carrier with the United States Postal Service, retiring after 20 years of service. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and outdoorsman and attended Emit Grove Baptist Church.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence O. Logan.
He is survived by his wife, Gwen Logan of Statesboro; son, Johnathan Logan and his wife, Amanda of Brooklet; daughter, Stefanie Cail and her husband, Hunter of Statesboro; step-son, Troy Davis and his wife, Heather of Statesboro; 2 step-daughters, Kristi Terry and her husband, Jon of Winder and Amanda Bryant of Statesboro; brother, George Oliver Logan and his wife, Jamie of Ohio; sister, Judy Logan Cockrum of Winston-Salem, NC; mother-in-law, Ma Anderson (Hazel) of Statesboro; nephew, Robert Cockrum and his wife, Suzanne of Clemons, NC; 10 grandchildren, Ashlyn, Kaylee, Janie, Courtney, Olivia, James, Fisher, Xander, Anderson and Braden.
A gathering of family and friends will be held 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday, September 18, 2016 in Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, September 19, 2016 in the chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Reverend Carl Ledbetter and Reverend Jim Correll officiating.
Burial with military honors will follow in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Robert Cockrum, Terry Caudle, Van Sikes, Ronnie Anderson, Jimmy Anderson and Bland Burroughs.
Honorary pallbearers will be W.C. Donaldson, Donald Nesmith, Norman Schoppenhorst, Curtis Jones and Danny Bryant.
