Ora Lee Brunson Edenfield, age 90, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2012, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility in Statesboro. She was born in Screven County but lived in Portal, Ga. where she and her husband owned and operated Edenfield Grocery and Hardware for over fifty years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who loved spending time with her family. Ora Lee enjoyed cooking, growing flowers and working in her yard. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Edenfield, parents William Reginald and Ola Daughtry Brunson; sisters Evelyn B. Hancock and Eunice Williams; brother, Bill Brunson.
Survivors include her children, Carolyn Edenfield Akins of Portal, Joe (Angie) Edenfield of Statesboro, and John Hubert (Sheila) Edenfield of Roswell, Ga.; her sisters, Ruby Bragg of Union, S.C. and Grace Lanier of Belvedere, S.C.; her grandchildren, Paul (Katherine) Edenfield, Patrick Edenfield, Meredith (Charlie) Bridges, Joie (John) Roach; great grandchildren, Rho Bridges, Ellis Bridges, Anderson Roach, John Brunson Roach; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 22, 2012 from 4:00 until 6:00 PM at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral services will be held Monday, January 23, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Jerry Brown officiating.
Burial will be in Upper Lotts Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Patrick Edenfield, Earl Edenfield, Paul Edenfield, Ernest Hancock, Alfred Woods, Ed Johnson, John Roach, and Charlie Bridges.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Ogeechee Area Hospice, P.O. Box 531, Statesboro, Ga. 30459.
