Linda D. Horton, age 71, passed away Thursday, February 9, 2017 in the South Health and Rehabilitation Center under the care of Comfort Care Hospice.
Linda was a native of Bulloch County and graduated from Southeast Bulloch High School in 1963. After high school she moved to Savannah and began working as an administrative assistant with the US Army Corps of Engineers, for more than 20 years and also worked with the United States Department of the Treasury for several years. Linda relocated to Birmingham, AL, in 1991 and had resided there until her death. She was of the Baptist faith and found great peace in God’s love and served as a devoted caregiver for her beloved cats.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Buford and Sallie Mae Baker Horton and her brothers, Virgil Lewis Horton, Sr. and Weldon Heyward Horton.
Linda is survived by her niece, Donna Parker and her husband, Ricky of Statesboro; nephews, Virgil Horton, Jr. and his wife, Tracy and Steve Horton and his fiancé, Melody Williams all of Statesboro.
A graveside funeral service and burial will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, February 12, 2017 in Brooklet City Cemetery with Pastor Daniel Berry officiating.
