Mr. Jim Thacker, age 82, joined his wife, Ruth, in Heaven on Saturday, October 28th 2017.
He was a home builder and owned and operated Jim’s Drywall. His wife and children would often work with him and made building homes a family affair. Fresh water fishing and attending races at the Oglethorpe Speedway were his passions which he was blessed to be able to enjoy, right up to his death. He was also very fond of his weekly Wednesday lunches with his nephew, cousin , and friends. For nearly 10 years, they met alternately at Ole Times Country Buffet in Statesboro and the Western Sizzler in Pooler.
Survivors include his daughters, Annette Shelley, Stilson and Kim Davis (Tommy), Fleming; nephew, Jimmy Mincey, Faulkville; grandson, Tommy Morris (Yvonne), Campbell, CA; great-grandson, Hunter Morris, Campbell, CA; sisters, Sandy Reed(Jimmy), Savannah and Debbie Laing (Jody), Richmond Hill.
A gathering of friends and family will be held on Wednesday evening 5-8 p.m. at Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with burial in Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Statesboro and Bulloch County, P.O. Box 581 Statesboro, GA 30459.
